Who we are
Breeding with passion and respect
My name is Alicia Insausti, and the Shar Pei has always been a breed that fascinated me. When I had the opportunity to share my life with my first Shar Pei, a journey began that took me from simple admiration to dog shows, where little by little I learned, selected, and eventually began breeding at an international level. Today, this family project called Eki Zimurrak Shar Pei is something I share with Iñaki and my daughter Adats, who has grown up surrounded by Shar Pei and has been part of this adventure since childhood.
Although I may be the most visible face, here we all do everything: from daily care to the selection and presentation of our dogs in shows. What started as a hobby turned into a commitment: to contribute our small part to the improvement of the breed, always working with the goal of breeding Shar Pei that truly reflect the standard, while never forgetting that above all, they are family companions.
Our Purpose
What made us fall in love with the Shar Pei was its character: a balanced, loyal dog, perfectly able to adapt to family life without great physical demands and with the noble ability to watch over its home. We do not come from breeder families, but today, thanks to the experience we have gained, we can proudly say that we have built a space where health, character, and beauty are the fundamental pillars — always guided by love and respect for our dogs.
Our Breeding Philosophy
At Eki Zimurrak we are committed to transparency (no. 17101 / FCI49/10) and responsibility. We invest in thorough health tests before incorporating a dog into our breeding program, because we know that genetics sometimes plays its own game. We work hand in hand with Entxozaga Veterinarios, who know and respect our way of working, and we also rely on the expertise of Txakurbai, a canine training center that guides us in the education and socialization of our dogs, as well as those who go to families seeking to build a strong bond through responsible training.
Our Journey and Achievements
Over the years, our Shar Pei have not only become loyal pets for families in Europe, the United States, and England, but have also achieved significant recognition in the world of dog shows. We have had the pride of seeing our dogs crowned World Champions, European Champions, and Champions of multiple countries, proving that dedication and respect for the breed are reflected in every generation.
Our Vision
Our goal is clear: to breed healthy, balanced, and beautiful Shar Pei, capable of fully integrating into family life without causing health or behavioral problems. We want every puppy that leaves Eki Zimurrak to bring happiness to its family and, at the same time, to be an ambassador of responsible breeding.
